Summer Youth Program

Volunteer Event Cordinator for Summer Youth Program - Callie

Concentrations/divisions of leading volunteers (as applicable)

Bobbi  - Movie Nights and as needed

Myra - Wherever needed on days off

Colby - Younger youth

Callie - Pre-teens/teens

We like to have at least two adult volunteers at each activity so these are the people to contact or you can always talk to manager. We would especially like several volunteers for younger children tp help them with craft activities.

The next newsletter will include a list of recyclable items we will be needing and other craft items for activities this summer. A good time to clean the closets and do spring cleaning as we can always use craft items for our kids. As summer goes on be sure to check out our summer youth program link for photos and more information of the activities we do this summer. Events will start one week after school lets out.

Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month in the community center at 1 p.m.  All members sign a confidentiality statement, are certified in Red Cross First Aid & CPR and trained to work closely with law enforcement and officials. The goal of the neighborhood watch is to help ensure we remain a safe and crime free community.

Other Regular volunteers Include:

Charlotte - School bus stop monitor.  She opens the community center about 30 minutes before school bus comes to provide youth shelter from the inclement weather and to help parents who have to leave for work before the arrival of the bus. Youth watch movies, read, color, visit, finish homework or play pool while waiting for the bus.

Pete - Tree trimming, lagoon care/weed eating and general clean-up and care of our community

Eugene - weekly cleaning of community center

Barbara, Bobbi  - These two have donated food and/or supplies to every event/activity we have held for all the years they have lived here.

There are few people who do not volunteer here at SFR for one thing or another. People take it upon themselves to clean the fence lines when trash blows up, clean around the dumpster, weed a flower bed in need, mow the lawn for a neighbor, take a meal to our elderly and check on them and so many special touches that help make this place the community it is a place we are all proud to call home.

Each potential member must sign a confidentiality statement before being considered as a member of the neighborhood watch.

The neighborhood watch also provides community service such as the annual community clean up day to help ensure the betterment of their community.

Special thanks to the SFR Neighborhood Watch Committee who help ensure that our community remains a safe and trouble-free place for all the families who live here.

Please note a photo of the Committee will be provided in the near future wearing the shirts they designed at one of their recent meeting. Neighborhood Watch meets once a month where they discuss any complaints, incidents and/or things they can do for the safety and betterment of the community they serve and protect.

Event Volunteer Coordinators

Bobbi, Daryl & Charlotte help plan and oversee community events.

The event committee organizes activities and seeks volunteers with skills and interest to work with youth on numerous activities. They also keep the community updated on materials and supplies needed for crafts and other activities. Some of the events they oversee are Children's Bingo, craft days, movie nights, lock-ins, sleep-outs, field trips and of course, the SFR Summer Youth Program.

In addition to all they do "hands on," they donate many of the materials needed for events and transportation to youth on field trips.

Thanks to our coordinators and all the people who support and assist with activities and events.
